Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten teacher
My name is Kathy Ettema. I am a wife to Bob, and mother to four grown daughters. My husband and my daughters all attended ICCS when they were young. Following my graduation from Calvin College with a BA in Elementary Education, I taught 5th and 6th grade at ICCS for 5 years. For the next 3 years I taught part time the 7th and 8th grades. In 1994, I started working part time as an assistant teacher for the Michigan School Readiness Program in the public school. I was in that position for 14 years until coming to ICCS in 2008 to teach preschool and kindergarten. I received my ZA endorsement (an early childhood endorsement) in 2007 and my master’s degree in Elementary Education- Early Childhood in the fall of 2008. I am the Religious Education director at the Imlay City Chr. Ref. Church and also lead Children’s Worship and teach 11th and 12th grade Sunday School. I have been actively involved in the Pregnancy Resource Center of Lapeer since 1990 either as a counselor or board member. In my spare time I enjoy reading, kayaking, and biking.
